This website allows anyone to create comics by using their mouse to sketch a story panel by panel. Once completed, the comic strip is then saved and is accessible from the site, however it is also possible to export the work via a number of platforms such as email, blogs, facebook, twitter etc.
Creating digital storybooks or comic strips using websites such as the one above is a great teaching strategy particularly when students are required to learn a certain process. In the past I have used this strategy in geography classes where students are required to understand a variety of geographical processes such as land degradation, the water cycle etc. Getting students to visually represent the process allows them to create a reference point in their minds, which they will then be able to access when required to write a response on that topic come examination time.
This strategy is great for visual learners, teaches a variety of important computing skills and is generally a fun way to memorize concepts without the student even knowing they are doing it!
Some interesting information on digital story telling can be found here.
